THE INVISIBLE DEADLY SPIDERWEB OF AIR POLLUTION IN LONDON
Acrylic painting on canvas. Nitrogen Dioxide and Particulate Matter levels
(Moderate to high - yellow, orange, red, purple)
This painting is based on an online map of air pollution in London with an article by Kate Turner titled:
“An estimated 127,000 children under the age of five die every year from ambient air pollution”,16 Jul 2018, City Monitor. The map was put out by the office of the Mayor of London, Sadiq Kahn who is committed to cleaner air in London. The number of petrol cars on the road is in the UK now over 40 million and they are all pumping toxic levels of pollution into the air adding to greenhouse gases and causing climate change.
